A lesson from a backhoe operator

She has not specifically told me so, but I have no doubt the woman who sent the following lesson to me is a capable backhoe operator.

I can be clueless. Perhaps she is trying to share something with me other than humor. I think I had better confirm my car is safely in the garage.

My Bunny

My daughter made my day. She wrote me to tell when she was at a friend's birthday party, the friend's father toasted his daughter, using his sobriquet for her, "Pumpkin." He elaborated, saying she will always be his "Pumpkin" no matter how old she is. His daughter turned bright red and voiced her embarrassment. My daughter then boldly stood up and proclaimed "My name is Chelsea, and to my dad I will always be known as 'Bunny'." "Hi, Bunny" was echoed all around, followed by introductions of "Panda", "Muff", and "Curly". I am honored my Bunny is proud to be always be my Bunny.

Snow

If the long-range forecast is correct, by spring I will despise it. That though remains a mere prospect. This morning, the snowfall looks beautiful and is welcomed. With winter temperatures, give me snow.

Snow was recorded November 9 at O'Hare, but there was not enough to be measured. December 2 I saw traces of snow on the ground around the edges of our yard. December 9 was the first official measurable snowfall of the season. Today, though, is real. There will not be enough snow to fire up the orange beast, but the children's cars will need to be brushed off before driving and I may need to shovel the drive.

The cats puff up their fur and just keep staring out the windows. I do not know if they have forgotten the blizzard from last year and wonder what the white wetness is, or if they do remember and are staring in disgust.

For now, the snow is beautiful.
